Editorial Comments & Disclaimers:
| First off, let me explain that this page
is designed to help Chinese scooter owners set their bikes up to make them
perform and function as well as your mechanical ability will allow. I'll
assume you are willing to invest in the minimal tools required to maintain
and care for your scooter properly if you want optimum enjoyment from it.
Many of the articles here are written by myself, but some are simply links
to items I feel are relevant and may help other scooter owners. I have
over 30 years of motorcycle diagnosis, repair, restoration, parts design
and manufacturing experience. I try to use common tools which I think should
be in every shop in all articles, but if there is an alternative, I'll
mention it also. If you have comments or suggestions for things you'd like
to see, send me an email and I'll see what I can do for you. I have no
connection with Tank, Sunl, Sunflower, Wussi, Bandit, Baron, Roketa, Strada,
Road Runner or any other company mentioned except for being a dealer for
after market parts from MRP and PFS.
The engine type in the Chinese scooters are often the GY6 which is a 125cc or 150cc air cooled engine and is a clone of a 90's Honda design which is a very durable engine with excellent parts availability. The 250cc scooters are most commonly using the CFMoto 244cc (Model 172MM) vertical cylinder water cooled engine. This engine is a clone of the Honda Helix engine from the 90's and is characterized by having a vertical cylinder orientation. Next is the Linhai clone 257cc engine (Yamaha design) which is a horizontal cylinder and also water cooled and a clone of the 250 Majesty engine from the 90's. Typically these have 12" or 13" rear wheels and are not yet as commonly used as the CFMoto design. Thanks for checking in and enjoy your scooter! Stan EMAIL |

| While there are hundreds of scooter and parts dealers, you will only find links here to dealers that have proven through personal experience or excellent customer comments to have a high degree of customer satisfaction. The list will grow over time, but don't expect to see hundreds of names here. I'm fussy about dealers that don't respond to information requests in a timely and professional manner! |
